Problematizing Adult Learning Synthesis
The main issue that I would like to problematize in the upcoming essay involves self-driven learning. Indeed, the concept of self-driven learning is a key theoretical framework that distinguishes adult learning as an area of study. The idea emphasizes mainly on outside control as well as management of tasks related to adult education. Undeniably, self-driven learning assumes a key role in facilitating adult learning. However, despite its rich history as well as centrality to the respective area, the idea bears significant construction and misinterpretation. Of late, the main subject of the concept has consistently been the outside administration of the respective learning process. With this idea, the learner or student carries out a huge deal of autonomy especially in making decisions regarding the subjects that are most important to him or her as well as the approach that would be ideal in gratifying the task irrespective of contextual possibilities and competencies. As such, the notion of autonomy or independence encompassing self-driven learning has limited its conceptualization. In this respect, imbalances have been developed in relation to its implementation within an education-based setting.
